SOUTHBRIDGE — If you're going to engage in a lot of trash talk, it wouldn't hurt to have Jack Golden — aka "Dr. T" — on your team.

The Greenfield resident and former circus clown ("In the circus, I did 20 minutes with a mop, a trash can, and some paper," he says) was in town Thursday, Sept. 20 to instruct students at the Grow School on Ashland Avenue in some of the finer points of recycling.

Actually, his appearance was a prize of sorts, an award for some of the students' efforts as competent recyclers in their own right. For their collective collecting in and around their school, they were entered into a raffle by the state's Department of Environmental Protection and, as luck would have it, the Grow School won the raffle.
